Spotlight: Flattering to deceive this season as his comeback third at Musselburgh (5f, good to soft) has worked out really well but he hasn't quite reached the same heights since, despite further thirds on last two outings; however, it was good ground last week and the forecast showers are in his favour; softening ground would bring him right into it.

Spotlight: Low-mileage 3yo who continues to raise his game, latterly going down narrowly to one of his market rivals at Newbury (5f, good to firm; effective on softer); hard to knock, other than he's having to concede weight all round.

Spotlight: An improving 4yo who was first and second in 5f handicaps (AW/soft) before his seventh at Southwell in a race that didn't go to plan; could yet raise the bar higher.

Spotlight: Multiple winner formerly with Ger Lyons and Mick Applebly; departed the latter yard for 15,000gns and it was a solid effort in defeat on stable debut at Sandown (5f, soft; winner followed up) last time; difficult to call him well handicapped, however.

Spotlight: Won a 7f maiden for the Gosdens and a 6f novice here (good to firm) by 4l on debut for current yard; faced a tough task on handicap debut at York but was easy to back (18-1) and trailed in nearly last; drops back to 5f for the first time with a tongue-tie added.

Spotlight: Hasn't won for a while but continues to threaten now and again, as when narrowly held over C&D a month ago; a tongue-tie returns with new blinkers added and that casts an element of doubt; respected, though.

Spotlight: Better known for his exploits at 5f, so latest fourth of 14 over Thirsk's 6f was respectable; won off this mark earlier this year and could have a part to play; good to soft fine but perhaps not softer.

Spotlight: Off a 3lb lower mark when very nearly winning a 6f Class 2 handicap here last October (soft) on final run for John Ryan; however, a case can't be made on what he's shown during a light 2025 campaign.

Spotlight: Unplaced in this 12 months ago; has run plenty of good races in defeat this year and Ascot last week was one of those given he was slowly away; however, he's 1-43 on turf and usually finds a way of getting beaten.

Spotlight: A three-time winner over 5f on turf but not easily trusted after what he's shown in his last four races.

Spotlight: Won a Class 4 handicap at Ripon on his return in April (6f, good; 2lb higher); heavy defeats have followed and he could do with the ground softening up back at 5f.
