Spotlight His only handicap wins were this race in 2022 (soft) and 2023 (heavy); the latter was by a nose but he's just 1lb higher today and back down to 1m2f for the first time since, having run respectably this term; the hat-trick in this race demands a bit more than that but he's clearly one to note.

Spotlight Dropped back to 1m2f when a comfortable winner from the front on heavy going at Newmarket last November off 2lb lower than today; plenty of disappointments in his record and he has run only twice this term, with a step back in the right direction last time; something of an enigma, but a well-handicapped one judged on that November win.

Spotlight Won heavy-ground maiden here last October and easily on handicap/seasonal debut at Doncaster (1m2f, soft) in April; excellent second of six at Goodwood (1m4f, soft) on penultimate start, before weakening right out of it over 1m5f on heavy latest; a return to form would not surprise.

Spotlight Steady progress in her first four races, easily justifying favouritism in a 1m2f Windsor novice event on good to soft, prior to being pulled up early when evens in a 1m6f handicap on soft last September; absent since but it will be interesting to see whether there is market confidence behind her.

Spotlight Off mark at fourth attempt, in Lingfield novice (1m2f, AW); good third of nine on handicap debut at Epsom (1m2f, heavy) puts him in the mix.

Spotlight Chelmsford win (1m2f, AW) in June 2023 after 607 days off is miles ahead of his other form; ridden that day by Christian Howarth and when respectable fifth of nine at Yarmouth last month following another long layoff; runner-up sole start on soft; not totally ruled out.

Spotlight Won at Chester (soft) in June and under Archie Young at Pontefract (good to soft) three weeks ago, both over about 1m2f; probably acts on heavy (stretched by 1m4f on sole run on it); back up 4lb but unlikely to be far away.

Spotlight Has won a maiden, a soft-ground novice and a 1m4f AW handicap; no impact in his other three races, not discredited in form terms in a handicap at Doncaster (1m4f) five weeks ago but he came only eighth of 13 that day, showing that he needs overall improvement; headgear enlisted.

Spotlight 3yo who justified favouritism with a dominant display on her handicap debut at Southwell (1m3f, Tapeta) in July; didn't fire eight days later but fourth at Kempton (1m3f, AW) two weeks ago was respectable; big player judged on that one win but this is her turf debut.

Spotlight Slowly away nowadays; behind in three Class 2 handicaps this season but won over C&D (June) and creditable third at Doncaster (1m2f, latest start) in his other two races this term; below form sole start on soft (2023) and withdrawn once this term when it was soft; some concerns in that record but this is a Class 3.

Spotlight Second in maiden at Nottingham (1m, heavy) last October and short-headed in a novice at Newmarket (1m2f, good) in April; 16-1 when finding the Lingfield Derby Trial much too tough in May and absent since, but he's an unexposed handicap newcomer and needs a close look.
