Spotlight Second on heavy at Bath at start of the month has kicked off a busy spell; second run in less than 24 hours when winning apprentice event at Brighton (5f, good to soft; just 2lb higher today) last Tuesday by 8l; respectable AW second on Saturday and he's brought out quickly again; one to note.

Spotlight Has a 2-48 strike-rate; hard to fault his consistency for most of this turf season as he made the frame in eight consecutive appearances, including in the mud, but he then produced a lesser show at Leicester five weeks ago.

Spotlight Won over C&D (soft) in April 2023 and at Catterick this April; those are his only wins from 23 races but he's well down the weights and taking third under Harry Smith at Catterick (5f, soft) two weeks ago was his most competitive show since the spring; each-way claims.

Spotlight Hasn't won since July last year (5f, good to firm) and his soft-ground record is not that persuasive, but he has been second or third (third of seven under Serena Brotherton last time) over 6f on his last three outings.

Spotlight Won at Ffos Las (6f, heavy) in August and creditable second at Carlisle (6f, soft) next time; tailed-off favourite at Leicester (6f, heavy) last Tuesday takes the gloss off his appeal, though.

Spotlight His last two turf wins have been on soft, latterly when returning to form over C&D in April on the switch back from AW; below form in May on his only start since but still looks interesting back here on testing ground.
